Process of privatisation is normally, and even automatically, connected to the process of transitional changes. The transition process has been in effect for more than one and a half decade, and the basic characteristic of the process is that nowhere in the world, neither in theory nor in the practice, there is a tested model of transition, and therefore privatisation, which could be used as a guideline for politicians, economists and other experts. Transition, and also privatisation, means a continual process, not a single act, and its content and purpose should be managed. The basic purpose of this paper is to point to the challenges and issues that occur in the transition - privatisation process in the hotel industry of Serbia.
