Apstrakt:
In this paper is investigated an WLAN, working in urban micro location, which has (approximately) a 1000 m diameter. For the process research is used WinProp a software product, developed by the AWE Communications. The wireless technology is based on the IEEE802.11 standard. Using suitable mathematical models of radio signal propagation, the field strength and power are calculated in every point of the service area. Two kinds of the network working are compared: using omnidirectional (isotropic) and directional (sector) antennas. In both cases a standard power of 20 dBm is us. The comparison gives recommendation about urban WLAN design.
