Socially Significant Diseases in Gabrovo District

This paper considers the epidemiology of some socially significant diseases in Gabrovo District. In spite of the weaky pronounced tendency towards a decrease in the death rate of these deseases, it remains higher than the average for this country. Cardio-vascular diseases have a leading position in our ditrict, followed by malignant growths and diseases of the endocrine system and metabolism. Socially significant diseases as a death cause are a much more serious problem in Bulgaria compared to other European countries. This requires urgent measures - both medical and socially economic, for changing the life style, restriction of risk factors and improving the health education of Bulgarian population.
